Fixing Flats & Routine Maintenance!

Fixing Flats and Routine Maintenance

When & Where: November 22, 2025 (10AM – 12PM) at the Sac Bike Kitchen

Cost: FREE (excluding parts if applicable)

Space is limited so RSVP to classes@sacbikekitchen.org

Join us for our entry-level, hands-on maintenance class that will teach you how to fix flat tires and perform routine maintenance procedures to keep your bike’s parts in top shape! The skills you learn in the 2-hour class will help you:

  • Fix a flat tire via tube replacement or patching, along with learning the tools you need to fix a flat on the road (and avoid getting stranded!).

  • Clean and lubricate your drivetrain to extend its life.

  • Know which key areas to periodically check on your bicycle to catch potential problems before they leave you stranded.

No experience is necessary. If you have your own bicycle we encourage you to bring it, but you may also use one of our shop bikes.

Other things to know:

  • The purpose of all SBK classes is to *teach* you how to perform bicycle repairs. Therefore, we cannot be held responsible for any damage your bicycle may incur during the class nor can we guarantee that you will have a functioning bicycle at the end of the class, especially if your bicycle was not functioning properly prior to the class.

  • We have experience working with a variety of bicycles, but not all of them! If you surprise us with some exotic machine we’ve never seen before we’ll be happy to take a look at it and may even want to take some pictures, but we can’t guarantee we’ll know what’s best for it mechanically.

Bike Polo Workshop & Expo!

Sacramento Bicycle Kitchen (@sacbikekitchen) and Capitol Bike Polo (@capitolbikepolo) presents:

Bike Polo Workshop and Expo
10/23/25 Thursday evening from 5:30pm – 7:30pm
Meet at Sacramento Bicycle Kitchen (1915 I Street, Midtown)

Christine and Tsunami Mike of Capitol Bike Polo will talk through the rules of the game and showcase 2-3 polo specific bikes to share how certain accommodations increase game proficiency. This is a great opportunity for new players to be introduced to the world of bike polo! Then we’ll get YOU onto your bikes to practice skills and drills. Basic bike polo equipment (balls and mallets) will be provided.

BYOB (Bring your own bike), helmet, and LIGHTS as this is during sunset hour.
WE WILL NOT BE RENTING OUT BIKES FOR THIS EVENT!!!

This is NOT a pick-up game as bikes will not be safety checked. However, we are considering running regular pick-up games in the future!

Registering and filling out the General Waiver is MANDATORY for everyone. You can register and complete necessary waivers here.

IF YOU ARE UNDER 18:
We welcome all ages however we do not have child-sized mallets available and recommend this activity for kids ages 13 and over. Children under 18 MUST have a guardian present during the event. In addition, guardians must sign the Guardian Waiver found at the bottom of the registration form.

Si tienes tu propia bicicleta, te sugerimos llevarla a clase.
