To help encourage cycling and mechanical self-sufficiency amongst youth and families, SBK provides:

  • Free (used) bikes for youth under 18! Both parent and child must be present. One bike per child. Bikes availability dependent on donated inventory; finding the right bike may require more than one visit! Bikes are used and as-is; parents are responsible for determining whether a bike is safe to ride.
  • Free DIY shop time for youth and families working on youth bicycles! Families are welcome to bring in youth bikes during any open shift to learn how to do bicycle repairs and maintenance with guidance from our volunteer mechanics.
  • Volunteer opportunities! While in general, volunteers must be over 18, minors may be allowed to volunteer at the discretion of the Volunteer Coordinator and daily shift manager. Visit our Become a Volunteer page for more info.
  • Liability waivers must be signed by minors and co-signed by parent prior to first DIY shop time.
