SBK will be closed Thursday, May 17th, for our monthly volunteer appreciation staff ride. Regular shop hours will resume Friday at 10am.
The Bad News: There will be no Saturday shift this week due to lack of available volunteer power. This is the reality of a volunteer-run space. If this makes you unhappy, consider becoming a Volunteer–it’s the BEST!!!
The Good News:
The SBK Second Saturday show will go on! Join us for a very special Second Saturday show! We will be celebrating the release of Soft Science‘s new album “Maps”! To give you a taste, here is a link to a recent single off the upcoming album.
The lineup will include:
– Soft Science
– Desario
– Rosemother
As usual, we will have some tasty beers on tap and we are excited to have KC Kombucha there as well!
Doors open at 6. Music starts at 7. ALL AGES. NO COVER.
Mark Your Calendars! SBK’s SPRING VELO SWAP and YARD SALE is coming soon!
Date: Saturday, May 19, 2018
Time: 9:00am-12:00 noon
The Sacramento Bicycle Kitchen will be having a Velo Swap: We will have vendors in the parking lot selling all things bicycle. Stop by to buy, sell (must sign up to be a vendor), or swap! All things cycling related are welcome: parts, frames, wheels, clothes, accessories, and more!
Vendor fee is $5 and space is limited.
While this all happens in the parking lot, SBK volunteers will also be doing some spring cleaning inside and bringing out excess stock to sell at reduced prices at our Yard Sale tent! SBK stock will be for sale only– we can not buy or trade! The more you buy, the more we will bring out!
SBK’s regular Saturday shift will be held inside the shop from 10am-2pm; items for sale inside the shop are not part of the yard sale and will remain at their regular prices.
Email ellissa@sacbikekitchen.org if you’re interested in being a vendor or if you have any questions.
Join us for our entry-level, hands-on maintenance class that will teach you how to fix flat tires and perform routine maintenance procedures to keep your bike’s parts in top shape! The skills you learn in the 2-hour class will help you:
-
Fix a flat tire via tube replacement or patching, along with learning the tools you need to fix a flat on the road (and avoid getting stranded!).
-
Clean and lubricate your drivetrain to extend its life.
-
Know which key areas to periodically check on your bicycle to catch potential problems before they leave you stranded.
No experience is necessary. If you have your own bicycle we encourage you to bring it, but you may also use one of our shop bikes.
Class location and date:
Sac Bike Kitchen
Monday, 5/21/2018, 6:30pm-8:30pm
Cost to Attend:
FREE (excluding parts if applicable)
Other things to know:
-
The purpose of all SBK classes is to *teach* you how to perform bicycle repairs. Therefore, we cannot be held responsible for any damage your bicycle may incur during the class nor can we guarantee that you will have a functioning bicycle at the end of the class, especially if your bicycle was not functioning properly prior to the class.
-
We have experience working with a variety of bicycles, but not all of them! If you surprise us with some exotic machine we’ve never seen before we’ll be happy to take a look at it and may even want to take some pictures, but we can’t guarantee we’ll know what’s best for it mechanically.

Great! Please RSVP to classes@sacbikekitchen.org
